The picturesque
Malham has been an inspiration to many artists and writers, including Turner, Wordsworth and Kingsley. In fact Kingsley was a regular visitor to Malham Tarn and wrote part of ‘The Water Babies’ Babies’ there. David Dimbleby stated that some believe James Ward’s painting of Gordale Scar (Malham) to be one of the greatest triumphs in British landscape art.
The village hosts a number of events during the summer and there are some delightful pubs and tearooms to tempt you.
